As Jonathan said and ended up being the case, this pop up show was a good way to make sure to get more work done, and see where all our work is at. I appreciated the informality of it all. As opposed to other pop up exhibitions we’ve done, I was a bit more removed from the preparation and setup of this one, largely due to the fact that I was ill. Vic, Arlette, Paula and others did a great job.
The point of this exhibition for me, was to see how I felt displaying me in my work. The more processes I go through of working on the footage, or showing the work to others removes me somewhat from the work and allows me to feel more comfortable seeing the stills/footage as a piece of work as opposed to ‘me in crisis’ haha. It’s of course both, but I suppose showing other people these stills helps to lessen the anxiety I have of exposing myself in quite a vulnerable emotional state.
